I would like my first entry to be about the issue of unfaithfulness. Cheating is all over the news these days. Whether it be politicians or celebrities such as Jesse James or successful athletes like Tiger Woods. So what qualifies as cheating in a world where disloyalty is so common? Some believe that cheating only involves physical infidelity with someone other than your significant other. Others believe in "emotional cheating" which also involves fantasizing about another or something as simple as a crush. Some people will go as far to say as long as you don't have intercourse then it's not cheating! (Side-note: if you're in a relationship with someone who feels this way...get out of that relationship). Personally I believe that if you are hiding any flirtatious texts or behavior from your partner then you are cheating them simply by being deceptive. My boyfriend will be the first to tell you that I have a flirtatious personality and sometimes men take that the wrong way, but I am an honest person and would never hide anything from him. A breach of trust is difficult to overcome so don't risk losing trust in your relationships.
And what should you do when you've cheated or been cheated on?? Good question. Cosmopolitan magazine said in their May of 2010 issue that if you cheat you should simply figure out why you cheated and fix that aspect of the relationship rather than telling your partner. This is the kind of advice women are getting these days about relationships. Now, I'm the first pick up a Cosmo magazine and unwind, but you have to pick and choose where your real advice comes from. And what happens when your partner finds out that you cheated? Most truth will eventually come to the surface. I don't know about you but I would rather hear that I've been cheated on from my significant other rather than from some other outlet. The relationship might stand a chance that way. If you've cheated, I suggest manning up and telling the truth. If the relationship ends it's your own fault and you'll be a better person for dealing with the consequences. If you've been cheated on you better figure out if you can deal with the nagging thought that your trust has been abused and your partner has the ability to live a lie.
This is a topic that could be discussed forever and a day, but I'll leave it at that. Give me your feed back and send me any topics you wish to receive advice on! TheCandidBlogger@gmail.com is my email and I check often.
